We have all thoughts about the family. Some want a large family with many children to fill their homes and lives. Others want children as they get older. Yet others do not plan to have children and prefer to focus on careers or other living spaces. Whatever a person’s or couple’s plan, family planning is what we all need to think about.
Of course, for most of us, this means that we want to achieve our goals. It is easier to improve or reduce your chances of becoming pregnant.
There are many different birth control methods that people use. Some are more scientific, some have been used throughout history. For centuries. Today, the most common options for contraception are much more effective than the methods used in the past.
As a matter of fact, many birth control methods have been proven to be almost completely effective. An IUD or intrauterine device will prevent pregnancy with great accuracy. One is inserted into the uterus by a doctor and remains in place, effective in preventing pregnancy and implantation for up to ten years!
Hormonal methods of contraception give the woman hormones. This obviously prevents pregnancy, but the hormones must be taken very regularly, every day as prescribed. They are commonly used in the form of a patch.
Barrier methods actively prevent sperm from entering the female reproductive tract. Such things as condoms are worn by men, diaphragms, worn by women, as well as the sponge.
Behavioral methods are more natural methods such as coitus interruptus, or removal before ejaculation. This is often used in combination with the rhythm method, which is followed by the calendar and avoiding the intercourse.
No matter what family planning, birth control options are available. All of the above methods may be effective, but some may be more effective than others. Talk to your doctor about the best method for you.
