Silverstone Auctions will kick off its live online auction this Saturday May 23 with an impressive catalog of rare classics and modern supercars. The auction will start at 2:00 p.m. BST and 86 cars are offered for all tastes. Among the lots on offer are three BMWs directly from Jay Kay, who is known for his exclusive collection of fine cars.
The first is a rare and highly sought after BMW coupe, often considered one of the best sports coupes in history. It is 1 of 500 1972 3.0 CSL E9 manufactured with right-hand drive and finished in Chamonix White. He is proving to have covered only 62,000 miles. This version was also reinstalled with the rare City Pack, which included power windows, additional soundproofing, and full bumpers and wheel arch extensions.
The owner, prior to Jay Kay, found the stored car where it had been for several years and began restoring it to its original beauty. The history file shows how far the previous owner went to make sure this car is one of the best CSLs. Now Jay Jay is offering it for an estimated £ 135,000 to £ 155,000.
The second BMW is an exceptionally rare 1983 Alpina B9 3.5 (E28) right-hand drive with a manual gearbox. It is believed to be one of the 18 available in this specification and that Jay Kay had carefully chosen nine years ago.
The last of his BMWs is a 1987 E30 that has become a competition specification car. After the conversion, he was prepared for Jay to drive him on the Mallorca Island Rally in March 2020 as Car Zero. Looking fabulous, you are now ready for sprinting, climbing and rally. Both cars are offered at £ 25,000 to £ 30,000 and £ 48,000 to £ 56,000 respectively.
Performance wise, a 1984 Maserati Merak SS is also on sale this weekend, specifically the later, rarer model fitted with the Bora Dashboard and originally supplied by the UK.
Presented in an original and unrestored condition with 16,000 miles, this is potentially a collector’s car or one to be invited to any Contest. It comes with a full story, a lot of paperwork representing your life, and even the spare wheel still has its original label. This is a rare opportunity to have a very special car at an estimated £ 65,000 to £ 75,000.
Another highlight in this online sale is a fantastic 1960 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Speciale from £ 55,000 to £ 65,000. This is a super rare car designed by the great Scaglione. Once used as a road car before becoming competition use, it acquired the FIA documents in 2005 and in 2011 joined a large private collection in the UK. This is a well prepared and maintained car provided with your Italian documents and a considerable history file. This is a wonderful opportunity to purchase a classic Streamlined Alpha.
