Causes of Primary Hypogonadism
Testicular dysfunction causes primary hypogonadism, and the testicle may cause dysfunction for various reasons.
Klinefelter’s syndrome is a chromosomal anomaly that occurs at birth due to abnormalities in the X and Y chromosomes. One person includes 44 autosomes and one X and one Y and sex chromosome. Females have two X chromosomes. Males have both an X and Y chromosome. In males, the Y chromosome contains genetic material and determines masculinity.
A child suffering from Klinefelter syndrome has two X chromosomes with one Y chromosome. The presence of the extra X chromosome affects the development of the testes, whereby the testis develops abnormally and subsequently results in the production of testosterone, leading to primary hypogonadism.
Too much iron in the blood can cause dysfunction of the testes, or if the testes don’t work, the testosterone is inadequate. Age – Testosterone production may drop to the age of thirty, the level begins to decline.
Chemotherapy / radiotherapy used in cancer treatment can damage the testicles and cause insufficient production of testosterone.
Inflammation of the testes or infection of the testes can cause dysfunction of the testes causing primary hypogonadism, respectively. Surgery or removal of the testes may cause primary hypogonadism.
Causes of Secondary Hypogonadism
Secondary hypogonadism is caused by any problem that can be explained as hypothalamus and gonophary gonad in the hypothalamus or in the pituitary parts of the brain, creating a hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis
The hypothalamus pulse generator releases the luteinizing hormone secreting hormone (LHRH).
The hormone secreting the luteinizing hormone stimulates the anterior pituitary to secrete the luteinizing hormone
In response to the luteinizing hormone, Leydig cells in the testis secrete testosterone.
However, due to certain diseases or other factors, this axis may be cut off and cause secondary hypogonadism as follows:
Tumor in the pituitary gland may inhibit hormone secretion from the pituitary gland and reduce testosterone secretion. Some medications, such as painkillers, can produce testosterone.
High amounts of fat in the body can reduce the secretion of hypogonadism. Tuberculosis, an inflammatory disease, may be another cause of hypogonadism that affects the pituitary gland and reduces the release of hormones of the pituitary gland.
Kallmann syndrome is a genetic disorder in which the hypothalamus has difficulty in secreting the hormone that secretes luteinizing hormone and ultimately leads to testosterone production.
Symptoms of Hypogonadism
Symptoms of hypogonadism may vary from person to person and also depend on the level of testosterone and the time at which the loss occurs.
The absence of secondary sexual characters, such as the lack of facial axillary pubic hair, deepens as the voice ages, and has difficulty in gaining muscle.
Enlarged breasts, indeterminate genital genital reproductive organs – the presence of certain feminine characters that cannot be distinguished between men and women, develops breast tissue, emptying milk from the breasts.Other hormonal deficiencies such as thyroid hormone deficiency may also occur.
Small size of testicles.
Low sperm count is also seen in some cases.Erectile dysfunction is an important symptom in almost all cases.
Sexual desires also decrease.
Loss of fertility.
Decreased motivation or low self-confidence is often seen.
Treatment of Hypogonadism
Low testosterone treatment.
Changing the testosterone hormone can cure hypogonadism, but it has not yet been found that testosterone replacement may benefit the elderly.Injection of the testosterone hormone may help in the treatment of hypogonadism.
Testosterone gels are commercially available on the skin.
Ashwagandha, Fenugreek, D-aspartic acid are supplements used to increase testosterone.
Vitamin D deficiency is taken to increase the testosterone level, so that the deficiency of vitamin D in the body can lower the testosterone level.Consuming healthy fats can reduce the body’s empty calories.
Exercising 3-4 days a week can increase testosterone production in the body.
